Springer launches book series with the Chinese Academy of Engineering

Research on the Intelligent City Construction and Promotion Strategies is the first book series on this emerging topic

Heidelberg | New York, 27 October 2015

Springer, part of the newly formed publishing group Springer Nature, has signed an agreement with Zhejiang University Press to co-publish a new book series Research on the Intelligent City Construction and Promotion Strategies. The book series will present the results of a major advisory research project of the same name, launched by the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE). The first volume, the general report of the series, will be published in 2016. Approximately 12 volumes will be published in the next two to three years.

As the first book series to focus on the intelligent city concept, it will systematically report on the roadmap for intelligent city construction through 2030 in China. The editor-in-chief, Prof. Pan Yunhe, the Executive Vice President of the CAE, was also the first to introduce the concept of the intelligent city in China. It has since become a national-level, long-term strategy, as China has undergone the most significant urbanization in world history during the past 30 years, with around 500 million people moving into cities.

Xu Kuangdi and Zhou Ji, former and current president of the CAE respectively, are advisers to the book series. The editorial board comprises 47 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and CAE as well as more than 180 experts who directly participate in the research. Representing the highest level of research in this field in China, the book series will offer an authoritative reference resource for international readers, helping them to understand intelligent city construction in China, a movement expected to be highly influential around the globe.
