FinELib consortium comprises Finnish universities, universities of applied sciences, research institutes, and special public libraries. The consortium supports research, learning, and teaching process by providing high-quality information to the Finnish scholarly community. The consortium aims to effectively acquire electronic resources to support Finland’s goal of enhancing the outreach of open access publishing. The service unit of the consortium is functional at the National Library of Finland, which is the oldest and the largest. The unit is a key instrument in initiating negotiation for the licensing of e-resources on behalf of the Finnish scholarly community.
The first agreement is a Transformative Agreement covering Springer Nature hybrid journals. The agreement covers open access publications in Springer, Palgrave & Adis hybrid journals on SpringerLink and Academic journals on Nature.com. The second agreement covers open access publications in Nature and original Nature research journals across the life, physical, clinical and social sciences. In addition, readers and users affiliated with participating institutions have access to more than 2,000 of Springer's subscription journals, at no extra cost.
