Open access agreement with FinELib consortium

FinELib consortium comprises Finnish universities, universities of applied sciences, research institutes, and special public libraries. The consortium supports research, learning, and teaching process by providing high-quality information to the Finish scholarly community. The consortium aims to effectively acquire electronic resources to support Finland’s goal of enhancing the outreach of open access publishing. The service unit of the consortium is functional at the National Library of Finland, which is the oldest and the largest. The unit is a key instrument in initiating negotiation for the licensing of e-resources on behalf of the Finish scholarly community. 

FinElib Consortium has decided to sign a Read and Publish agreement with Springer Nature to support its goal of providing high quality information to scholarly community by transitioning to open access publishing. Authors belonging to an eligible institution connected to the Unit Consortium are able to publish open access articles in subscription journals that offer the hybrid open access option (Open Choice) and the Creative Commons Attribution license (CC BY and CC BY-NC). The CC BY licence allows others to distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon the licensed work, including for commercial purposes, as long as the original author is credited. This agreement also includes access to more than 2000 of Springer´s subscription journals, at no extra cost to readers and users connected to FinELib Consortium.
