About Springer Nature's existing open access agreements

  • About Read and Publish agreements

    Read and Publish (Springer Compact) open access agreements are transformative agreements as supported by Plan S. They support the transition to a transparent and sustainable OA publishing environment by enabling partners to combine journal subscription access along with OA article processing charges (APCs). In addition to managing the cost and administration of OA, they offer authors an easy way to comply with funders’ OA requirements.

    • Researchers from participating institutions can publish their articles OA in more than 1,850 Springer hybrid journals, at no extra cost to them
    • Researchers also have access to the full text of agreed subscription content
    • Efficient OA workflows based on market needs: we continue to improve our workflows with feedback from our partners

  • About fully open access agreements

    Our fully open access journals portfolio focuses on robust and insightful research, supporting the development of new areas of knowledge and making ideas and information accessible around the globe. Across our publishing imprints there are leading multidisciplinary and community-focused journals that offer rigorous, high-impact open access. Many of our titles are also published in partnership with academic societies, enabling them to achieve their own open research ambitions.
