Open Access journals

Open access publishing models and policies have been at the heart of Springer Nature’s business development and strategic thinking throughout the last decade.

Our focus is broadening beyond open access to open science. Seeking to facilitate transparent, open scientific communication through data services, collaboration tools and public accessibility and reuse.

Publishing open access makes authors work immediately and permanently available online for everyone, worldwide. With BioMed Central, SpringerOpen, Palgrave Macmillan and Nature Research, Springer Nature is pleased to offer a variety of open access options for our authors to publish their research. No matter which option they choose, all open access publications are subject to high-quality peer review, editorial and production processes. Authors retain copyright and can easily comply with open access mandates.

OA funding and policy support for institutions and their researchers

Springer Nature offers a free open access (OA) support service to make it easier for authors to discover and apply for article-processing charge (APC) and OA book funding.

Not only will we be happy to help your researchers investigate potential OA funding sources, we can also advise on how to meet funder or institutional OA policy requirements when publishing in Springer Nature journals or books. Check out our resource center which contains a list of organisations that provide OA funding, frequently asked questions about policy and funding, and a checklist to support authors at any stage in their publication process.
