Heidelberg | Kopenhagen, 15 September 2016

41549Springer is the new publisher of the Journal of Business Cycle Research, successor to the OECD Journal: Journal of Business Cycle Measurement and Analysis, which the Centre for International Research on Economic Tendency Surveys (CIRET) had previously published with the OECD. CIRET will announce the relaunch of its journal and present issue 1 of the 2016 volume for the first time at its biennial scientific meeting in Copenhagen.

From 2004 to 2015 CIRET had published the journal together with the OECD under the name OECD Journal: Journal of Business Cycle Measurement and Analysis. As of 2016 the journal is part of the Springer program, under a new name and with a clearer focus on academic research. Additional partners in this cooperation, beyond CIRET, are the KOF Swiss Economic Institute at the ETH Zurich as well as the Fundação Getúlio Vargas, Rio de Janeiro.

The Journal of Business Cycle Research promotes the exchange of knowledge and research on theoretical and empirical aspects related to the short- and medium-term macroeconomic environment in which economic agents operate. It also presents technical reports on the latest economic indicators and forecasting methodologies employed by leading institutions in advanced and emerging economies.

According to Jan-Egbert Sturm, President of CIRET, “With its focus on short-term macroeconomics and the move to one of the most well-known academic publishers, the journal can be expected to become a leading one in its field.”

With regard to the new focus of the journal, Michael Graff from the ETH Zurich, who will continue to serve as Editor-in-Chief of the journal, stated: „On the basis of the journal’s 12-year publishing history, its relaunch as Journal of Business Cycle Research is bound to transform it into a truly academic outlet for papers at the frontier of our area. “

Springer is very pleased to add the Journal of Business Cycle Research to its portfolio of economic journals. “The journal is well established and respected in its field. As a publisher we intend to support and foster its global distribution to the scientific community”, adds Martina Bihn, Editorial Director, Business/Economics, Law & Statistics at Springer.
