In 2020 Springer Nature will launch two new important journals in its broad-scope collection of SN titles:
SN Business & Economics and SN Social Sciences will aspire to serve their respective communities by providing a strong and vibrant forum in which researchers and scholars can share their work – and in ways that more narrowly focused journal titles cannot always achieve.
Given its broad remits, SN Social Sciences and SN Business & Economics will champion interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary work. The journals will offer an open forum that is inclusive of a range of research perspectives and methodological approaches. Themed article collections will be a prominent feature, focusing on hot and emerging areas of research. These collections, unlike traditional special issues, will publish research over an extended period of time, thereby maximizing publishing opportunities for interested academics.
Supported by expert Editorial Board members, a responsive in-house editorial hub will help ensure an efficient, rigorous and fair peer-review process. The journals will pursue a hybrid model – authors will have the choice to publish Open Access, on payment of an Article Processing Charge (APC), or as part of a Publish-and-Read deal from their institution. Alternatively, authors can elect to appear in the subscription component of the journals.
David Bull, Vice President, Journals, Humanities & Social Sciences at Springer Nature, said: “Our hope is that SN Business & Economics and SN Social Sciences will each appeal to researchers and academics who are keen to benefit from efficient and highly visible dissemination of their work. This discipline areas are rich and broad, but also highly dynamic: SN Social Sciences and SN Business & Economics will be ideally placed to capture, in a wide sense, timely research, debates, and discussion. This can encompass those from the individual component parts of the disciplines, but also from the ever-growing body of interdisciplinary work that is emerging across HSS communities.”
