The general notion of Precision Medicine has long been of interest to both researchers and clinicians. After all, it has always been the goal of clinicians to tailor treatments to the unique context of their patients. However, we are now seeing enhanced potential for tailored approaches to the care of individuals due, in part, to an unprecedented ability to define the genomic characteristics of patients. Technologies such as chromosomal microarray analysis, broad genotyping and genome scale sequencing can now define susceptibilities, risks and diagnoses more accurately than ever before.
