We’re starting a new series on The Source that will highlight the various unique benefits that come with being a Springer Nature author. This month the spotlight is on MyCopy, a service offered for our Springer and Palgrave books.

A closer look at MyCopy

MyCopy is a print-on-demand soft cover edition of an eBook for $24.99 / €24.99. The cover is printed in color, but the interior pages are entirely in black and white.

MyCopy availability

All English-language eBooks that have a copyright year of 2005 and later, and are less than 1200 pages long are offered as a MyCopy. This includes monographs, textbooks, reference works, and handbooks. Currently the service is available in North America, many European countries, Australia, and New Zealand, with further countries to come.

MyCopy customers

MyCopy is available to library patrons at institutions that have purchased one or more of our eBook packages. You will not find MyCopy editions on library or bookstore shelves. It does not replace print books, but is an excellent service for eBook customers that appreciate the option of having a print edition of a book to go along with the eBook version. It is especially popular with students and researchers due to the affordable price point.

Perception and Sales

The low price point opens up an additional distribution channel for your book. We see this as a benefit rather than a negative. It allows for your research to reach more of the scientific community by expanding beyond the traditional print and eBook options. This makes your scientific content valued even more than before since it is reaching additional audiences – letting the reader decide on the format that is right for them. Since we sell the majority of our printed books to libraries and institutions, and MyCopy is sold exclusively to individuals, it opens up a new and exciting sales channel that benefits both the customer and the author.

Ordering a MyCopy

Ordering a MyCopy is as simple as visiting the book page on SpringerLink. After adding the MyCopy version to your cart, you can check out with just a few easy and quick steps.
