Open access agreement with Austria

The Austrian Academic Library Consortium (KEMÖ) and Austrian Science Fund (FWF) have a transformative Open Access agreement with Springer Nature. The Austrian Academic Library Consortium is integral in gaining access rights to electronic media and coordinated administration of resources on behalf of its members. Its major purpose is to increase collaboration between libraries and research institutions concerning e-resources. Whereas the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) plays a fundamental role in providing funding to support outstanding projects and researchers working towards enhancement of scientific knowledge and resources.

The agreement offers the scholarly community in Austria access to over 2,000 titles and allows authors to publish in over 1,900 Open Choice journals.

Authors belonging to a participating institution connected to Austrian Academic Library Consortium are able to publish open access articles in subscription journals that offer the hybrid open access option (Open Choice) and the Creative Commons Attribution license (CC BY). The CC BY licence allows others to distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon the licensed work, including for commercial purposes, as long as the original author is credited. More information on that and other journal policies can be found here https://www.springernature.com/gp/open-research/policies/journal-policies.

This agreement also includes access to more than 2,000 Springer subscription journals, at no extra cost to readers and users connected to Austrian Academic Library Consortium.
