Open access agreement with Sikt

Springer Nature and Sikt-Norwegian Agency for Shared Services in Education and Research have established a Transformative Agreement that enables the Norwegian scholarly community from participating institutions to publish open access in more than 1,900 Springer hybrid journals.

The Sikt - Norwegian Agency for Shared Services in Education and Research is the national open access coordinator which represents Norwegian institutes of higher education and research and their libraries. Sikt - Norwegian Agency for Shared Services in Education and Research manages 39 license agreements on behalf of Norwegian research libraries from the public sector, focusing on access to electronic resources. It plays a central role in implementing the Government's digitalisation policy by utilizing new technology to improve efficiency, quality, and ensures robust access to knowledge.

Authors belonging to a participating institution connected to Sikt - Norwegian Agency for Shared Services in Education and Research are able to publish open access articles in subscription journals that offer the hybrid open access option (Open Choice) and the Creative Commons Attribution license (CC BY and CC BY-NC). The CC BY licence allows others to distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon the licensed work, including for commercial purposes, as long as the original author is credited. This agreement also includes access to more than 2,000 of Springer´s subscription journals, at no extra cost to readers and users affiliated with a participating institution of the Sikt - Norwegian Agency for Shared Services in Education and Research agreement.
