Open Access Agreement with CSAL

The Consortium of Swiss Academic Libraries is a key instrument in Switzerland’s university landscape. The members of the consortium include all canonical universities, the ETH domain, universities of applied sciences, teacher training colleges, the Swiss National Library, and other secondary partners from publicly funded institutions in Switzerland.

CSAL is effective in obtaining licenses for scientific resources like eBooks, journals, and databases. It offers a wide range of services and support, and helps to establish a national open access strategy. Its relations with institutions, government agencies, and organizations in study, research and service provide faculty and students access to world-class institutions, experiences, and resources. Thus, playing a crucial role in guaranteeing the quality and competitiveness of Switzerland as a university and research hub.

We are very proud that CSAL has signed a Transformative Agreement with Springer Nature to support its research community even further.

Nature agreement update
The open access publication service for the Swiss CSAL Nature transformative agreement has reached its maximum article allowance. This means the agreement is no longer covering OA publishing fees until further notice. Information for authors can be found here.

Authors belonging to an eligible institution connected to the Consortium of Swiss Academic Libraries (CSAL) are able to publish open access articles in subscription journals that offer the hybrid open access option (Open Choice) and the Creative Commons Attribution license (CC BY and CC BY-NC). The article processing charge is centrally covered by CSAL.

This agreement also includes reading access to more than 2000 of Springer´s subscription journals, at no extra cost to readers and users connected to CSAL.
