APC waivers and discounts

Springer Nature offers APC waivers to papers whose corresponding authors are based in countries classified by the World Bank as low-income economies as of July 2022.

Papers whose corresponding authors are based in countries with lower-middle-income economies and with a 2021 gross domestic product (GDP) of less than 200 billion US dollars are eligible for a 50% discount (reference - World Bank 1st July 2022).

Please request your waiver or discount at the point of submission.

For information about our discretionary waiver and discount policies for authors in financial need, please see our open access policies for journals

APC waivers are not offered for open access publication in Springer Nature hybrid and transformative titles, as authors without the funds to publish open access in these journals can publish via the subscription route. See our hybrid journals portfolio for further information on hybrid journals in Springer and Palgrave imprints and hybrid academic journals on nature.com.
