About this course

This course acknowledges the widespread disparities in representation across academic publishing. Becoming aware of and countering implicit bias is a key tool for us to begin to address these disparities and improve global inclusion in research publishing. The course will raise awareness of how bias can show up in the publication journey and provide ways to address it.

This module is written for researchers who have roles as editors, peer reviewers or authors. It will be useful for anyone interested in understanding more about implicit bias and how we may be able to address it.

What will I learn in this course?

This course will raise your awareness of where and how implicit bias shows up in the publication journey. We will introduce a selection of practical starting points for disrupting bias and counteracting its effects. It also provides an opportunity to reflect on your own context and experience to choose a specific action to take forward beyond the course.
