Japan Research Advisory Forum

The Japan Research Advisory Forum was established in 2022 with the aim of enhancing understanding of the evolving research landscape in Japan through dialogue and engagement, helping us reflect on how we can contribute as a publisher, ensuring that our activities align with the community’s evolving priorities, and to identify opportunities to collaborate with local stakeholders.

The main discussion theme in 2022 was science communication, incorporating AI into the science communication discussions in 2023. In 2024, our main theme was research integrity. Through this forum and related engagement activities, we have received invaluable insights and feedback, enabling us to better understand the current landscape and key issues, helping us shape our activities.

Outcomes from the Japan Research Advisory Forum annual meetings include a survey on science communication which was covered by several media outlets including Times Higher Education and Asia Research News. It subsequently led to an invitation to speak at a Japan SciCom Forum Socials event.

The Japan Research Advisory Forum is one of several research advisory councils and forums established by Springer Nature in collaboration with leading figures from the research community to exchange insights, share expertise, and promote best practices in advancing research and publishing.
