World Environment Day 2019

#BeatAirPollution

Chosen by this year’s host, China, the theme of World Environment Day 2019 invites us all to consider how we can change our everyday lives to reduce the amount of air pollution we produce. Air pollution is a global emergency affecting everyone. Approximately 7 million people worldwide die prematurely each year from air pollution, with about 4 million of these deaths occurring in Asia-Pacific.

At Springer Nature, we are pleased to support World Environment Day by presenting you, the researcher, a special interview with Professor Junji Cao and a selection of our top content made freely available. Including both highly cited and accessed book chapters and journal articles; we hope you find them of interest.

Professor Junji Cao

Director of Key Lab of Aerosol Chemistry & Physics and Vice President of Institute of Earth Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences

Prof. Cao is a highly influential scholar particularly in the areas of air pollution control, publishing nearly 500 papers with a total citation of ~18,000 in various academic journals. He was the first Asian scholar to win the "2013 Frank A. Chambers Excellence in Air Pollution Control Award".

Read our exclusive interview with Professor Junji Cao

He shares with us...

  • His overall evaluation of the Clean Air Action Plan 2013-2017 and prospect for the Three-year Action Plan for Winning the Blue Sky War 2018-2020.
  • His view on the increasing ozone pollution in China.
  • The first anti-pollution key project, HSALSCS (Hybrid Solar Assisted Large Scale Cleaning System) in China, led by Prof. Cao.
