We have been observing the obvious increase in frequency and intensity of extreme weather events and consequential natural disasters. The blog discusses the situation of extreme weather events across the globe and recent scientific discoveries to understand their attributions. 

Dr Zhai is a research professor at the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences and Co-Chair of IPCC Working Group I.
