With this in mind, Springer Nature has focused on SDG 14 with two principal approaches. We are publishing a number of high-level overviews from research consortia with a view to influencing discussions by heads of state and decision-makers in various sectors of society and policymaking.

Blue Food Collection

The Blue Food Assessment, a collaboration between the Stockholm Resilience Centre and Stanford University in partnership with EAT explores the role that aquatic foods can play in building healthy, sustainable and equitable food systems. 

In this collection journals in the Nature Portfolio shine a spotlight on how aquatic food systems — blue foods — can help end hunger and accelerate the creation of a sustainable global food system.

The ocean in humanity's future

Fourteen world leaders ask an international group of researchers where next for the ocean economy. This collection delivers some of the answers.

The High Level Panel for a Sustainable Ocean Economy is a group of world leaders committed to developing and catalysing solutions for ocean health and wealth that support the Sustainable Development Goals.  The panel commissioned a series of ‘Blue Papers’ assessing the health and economic potential of the oceans.  In this Collection we present peer-reviewed research papers, Reviews, Perspectives and Commentaries that distill and build on the findings in these Blue Papers to help navigate the transition to a more sustainable relationship with our seas. Oceanic Global

The Oceanic Global World Oceans Day 2020 event featured keynote speeches, panels, and presentations from leading names across industries. The event which typically takes place in the UN headquarters was open to the public for the first time, and accessible live from all continents around the globe.

Here three of the speakers, Bill McKibben, renowned American environmentalist, Michael Selden, the Co-Founder of Finless Foods, and Olivier Ceberio, Co-founder of Resolute Marine Energy, share their thoughts on research collaboration, public engagement, and what it means to make meaningful change.
