International Women’s Day, observed annually on March 8th, celebrates the achievements of women and the promotion of their rights. It is an invaluable opportunity to assess and critically reflect on and challenges that women face in many areas. The UN Sustainable Development Goal on Good Health and Well-Being (SDG3) includes key targets directly related to women, such as access to sexual and reproductive healthcare services and reduction of maternal mortality.
These are essential research topics, given that women are more than half the world’s population; and studies show that women’s well-being is directly linked to their societies overall physical, economic, and political health. Researchers in these areas have published influential and insightful research with Springer Nature and its imprints. So in honor of International Women’s Day 2023, below you will find a hand-selected collection of scholarship published by Springer Nature on reproductive justice and maternal health from across various disciplines and publications. This important research supports advocacy and policymaking in the promotion and protection of women’s rights, and advances the efforts to achieve sustainable development.
