The United Nations estimated that in 2015 more than 700 million people lived in extreme poverty or could not fulfill the most basic needs (health, education, access to water, sanitation). Another 71 million people are estimated to be driven into poverty by the COVID-19 pandemic. On top of that, only 22% of workers are covered by any form of unemployment benefits.
In order to help tackle these pressing problems and to help realize the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 1 (SDG1: End Poverty), Springer Nature is joining the cause with this hub, collecting research across disciplines and imprints, and aimed at researchers, policy makers, practitioners, and anyone else active in working towards this goal.
