KBART (Knowledge Bases and Related Tools) is an industry standard used by Knowledge Bases and Libraries to find out what eBook and Journal content they licensed and how to link to it.  This is an integral part of the Discovery layer.  With KBART a library's Discovery Service knows which books and journals a library has access to from a publisher.  This allows the library's users to search the content the library purchased and when found click through to the content hosted on the publisher's platform.  We provide (per the KBART Phase II Recommended Practices), KBART lists for each package we license, and for consortia licenses, so customers can select their licensed content in their Discovery Service.

Springer Nature KBART Lists

Springer Nature KBART can be found on metadata.springernature.com/metadata/kbart

This includes lists for all licensable packages of SpringerLink content in the NISO KBART Phase II format. New lists are posted at the start of each month and are used by all of the major Knowledge Bases: EBSCO, Ex Libris, OCLC, and ProQuest. Additional lists covering all our Springer Nature packages are also available.

Consortia lists are sent by Springer Nature in the NISO KBART Phase II format to all of the major Knowledge Bases after the Consortia License is signed.

Automated KBART Holdings Feeds

KBART Automation allows customers to have a customer specific holdings feed (rather than sellable package listings or consortia lists) that is automatically uploaded to the customer specified Knowledge Base and Discovery Service on a weekly basis. The NISO created KBART Automation Working Group  published recommendations for KBART Automated Holdings in 2019. Springer Nature currently provides SpringerLink KBART Automated Holdings Feeds for OCLC, Ex Libris' SFX and Alma.
