In our Proud to Publish series we talk to our book editors about the books they were most proud to publish, commission or work on, in the past year. Our aim is to celebrate the work that goes into acquiring content and highlight the great variety by rolling out the red carpet for favourite titles that demonstrate why we can be proud to publish books at Springer Nature. Our editors are passionate about publishing, engaged in their research communities, markets and specialist disciplines - be it particle physics or the collected works of sociologist Claus Offe.

Below is a short interview with Shamim Ahmad who is Senior Editor for Mathematics Books based in New Delhi, India.

Thinking about books you’ve signed or published in 2020, which one are you most proud of?

I'm indeed proud to sign Prof. Ramji Lal for his four volumes on Algebra.

Why is this your personal 2020 highlight?

These four volumes offer a series of excellent textbooks of algebra for mathematics students, starting from lower undergraduate level to senior undergraduate level and then graduate level in all universities across the world. They discuss all major topics in algebra with numerous motivating illustrations and exercises to enable readers to acquire a good understanding of the basic algebraic structures, which they can use to find the exact or the most realistic solutions to their problems.
