Open Research

Information for the Librarian community

What do we mean when we talk about Open Research at Springer Nature?

Open Research takes many forms at Springer Nature and as a leading publisher we are committed to transitioning to open access and supporting our communities in doing so too. Librarians are increasingly involved in the transition and implementation of this. Here we provide information and insights in to our Transformative Agreements, Open Access products and options, Open Research services, and the funding and policies that underpin them all.

Springer Nature's Open Access Agreements

With Springer Nature’s open access, or ‘transformative’ agreements, subscription access and Open Access (OA) publishing are brought together into one reading and publishing contract across a consortium of institutions. Researchers in those institutions can publish under the “gold” OA model, while also accessing research in subscription journals. We continue to have an influential and driving impact on enabling our partners to transition to an OA environment sustainably and effectively. Explore our growing national agreements on our dedicated webpages for librarians and authors.
