Introducing ORCID - Researcher identification and research information

Josh Brown, from ORCID, will introduce the Open Researcher and Contributor Identifier (ORCID) and give an overview of the many ways that research systems are integrating the unique identifier for researchers. He will share some best practice guidelines for working with ORCID IDs and highlight forthcoming developments.

Paul Vierkant, Helmholtz Association will introduce the ORCID DE project, sharing the status and aims of this national ORCID integration and adoption programme. In doing so, he will also share some insightful new research about the spread and usage of ORCID IDs in German research organizations.

Josh is ORCID’s Regional Director Europe and works with stakeholders from across Europe to support understanding and engagement, and promote adoption of ORCID. Previous to ORCID, Josh was consortium and operations manager for SCOAP3, program manager for digital infrastructure at JISC, and project officer for SHERPA-LEAP at University College London.

Paul Vierkant

Helmholtz Association

 The past five years Paul was involved in the development of all types of open access repositories. Having built a disciplinary, institutional and a research data repository he has extensive experience in the analysis and management of open access repositories.© springer He also worked in several projects building the registry of research data repositories re3data and the Open Access Repository Ranking. Paul currently spreads the word of ORCID in the project ORCID DE. He is a member of the Helmholtz Open Science Coordination Office.
