Librarian Portal Update: Transition from siteIDs to BPIDs

NEW COUNTER 5 report custom metric now available

April 2020 | We have introduced a custom report metric that makes it possible to compare the BR2: Book chapter downloads by month COUNTER 4 (C4) data with the Title Master Report COUNTER 5 data. The TR_B1: Book Requests C5 report data represents the overall requests of a book on the chapter level, and since we deliver books as a single pdf but only reported usage in the C4 Chapter Report (BR2), there was no comparable metric in C5 until now.

The device (desktop, laptop, tablet, mobile phone…) that the researcher uses is connected to their institutional network, the publisher’s websites sees the researcher coming from the institution's network based on their IP, and grants them access.

Norwegian consortium begins OA agreement with Springer Nature

March 2020 | During January 2020 Springer Nature has been undergoing an auditing process in order to become COUNTER 5 compliant. The first iteration of COUNTER 5 reports, including the master report and standard views are already available. At the moment we provide data from September onwards, which will be extended to data being available from January 2019 by end of Q2 2020.

Springer Nature and Projekt DEAL sign MoU for OA agreement

October 2019 | Springer Nature has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for an OA agreement with Projekt DEAL, a consortium of over 700 publically and privately funded academic institutions and research institutions in Germany. Nature Metabolism journal shows strong track record

August 2019 | The Nature Metabolism journal started publishing only six months ago but has already shown a strong track record of promising research papers. One example is a paper published in July, showing that a ketogenic diet, a diet high in fat and low in carbohydrates, promotes the growth of lymph vessels in mice and might lead to substantial reductions in lymphedema which is a huge problem in clinics.

Nature Reviews Physics off to a strong start

August 2019 | The Nature Reviews Physics journal was launched in January this year and has been off to a strong start with contributions from well-known authors in the field. Its first issue featured a comment by the American theoretical physicist and Nobel prize winner Frank Wilczek titled “The evolving unity of physics” in which he discusses the synergy between the different fields of physics. March and April followed with two focus issues on nuclear power and the future of particle accelerators while the May issue featured an article about the representation of women in physics.

Together with Nature Methods and Nature Biotechnology, Nature Machine Intelligence launched a trial in partnership with Code Ocean which enables authors to share fully-functional and executable code accompanying their articles and making it easier to review the code and replicate the results.

August 2018 | ​​​​​​​To improve the quality of our records and to be more RDA compliant we will release enriched MARC records on August 31. This concerns MARC21 and MARCxml books and journal records available through the MARC downloader tool and article MARC which can be received through FTP. We will re-create our MARC records so that all available records for content from Springer Nature will contain the enrichments.

Research data at Springer Nature – the latest news

August 2018 | The first institution and the first funding agency have begun to offer Research Data Support to their researchers. Researchers at University of Nevada, Las Vegas can now access Research Data Support, a service from Springer Nature that makes datasets easier to find, share and cite. Researchers funded by the Wellcome Trust can also use the service as part of a pilot project.
