Masaki Kashiwara - Abel Prize Laureate 2025 (Copyright holder: Peter Badge/Typos1/The Abel Prize). The yellow book in the picture above used in the press release announcing the Abel Prize is a famous classic entitled “Sheaves on Manifolds” (Springer 1990), written by Masaki Kashiwara and Pierre Schapira.
The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters has decided to award the 2025 Abel Prize to Masaki Kashiwara, Professor at the Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences (RIMS) of Kyoto University and the Kyoto University Institute for Advanced Study (KUIAS), "for his fundamental contributions to algebraic analysis and representation theory, in particular the development of the theory of D-modules and the discovery of crystal bases."
